The Canadian 2010 Winter Olympics team was expected by Canadians from coast to coast to really shine like never before in the Vancouver-held Olympic Games. Heat was beginning to build on those connected to the Canadian Olympic team for a perceived lack of success. A couple big days seem to have changed that.
Gold medals came in flurries in Vancouver, unlike the snow, and has placed Canadian Olympians in record territory. With a total of 13 gold medals already won, the Canadian squad was one epic hockey game away from taking 14 gold medals home in the 2010 Olympics. Far and away Canada’s best effort and really helping Canadians forget the lack of gold medals in Calgary and Montreal, Canada looks set to finish 3rd overall in the medal count.
The United States have really showcased their athletic prowess with an Olympic leading 36 medals going into the final day of events. Germany sitting second after Saturday’s events has 10 gold medals.
Canada is going to be hockey mad over the U.S. vs Canada gold medal match-up. Having already lost to the United States in a game they could have won, Canadians are expecting their team to get sweet revenge. This won’t be any easy task as the talented American hockey team looks to not only win again over the Canadian men, but to also avenge the American women’s hockey team’s loss to the Canadians.
